Pelvic Physiotherapy Services in Sudbury

We are excited to say that we are able to offer pelvic physiotherapy assessments and treatments in our clinic.

What is Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy?

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy involves the assessment and treatment of conditions affecting the pelvic floor. These conditions can affect both those assigned female at birth and those assigned male at birth.

What is the pelvic floor?

Your pelvic floor is located at the bottom of your pelvis and is made up of nerves, fascia and 3 layers of muscles. If all of these systems are not working together optimally, it can lead to what we call pelvic floor dysfunctions. This includes things like bladder or bowel leaking or urgency, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, painful intercourse, low back and hip pain, and tailbone pain – to name a few. But the good news is, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy has been shown to help improve many of these conditions!

What conditions are treated by a Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist?

  • Bladder and bowel leaking
  • Bladder urgency and frequency
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Pelvic floor function in preparation for and during pregnancy
  • Post-natal rehabilitation
  • Pelvic pain conditions including painful intercourse
  • Low back pain
  • Tailbone pain

What does treatment normally look like?

Treatment plans are designed specifically for the individual after the initial assessment. Often pelvic floor treatments include education, exercise, and hands-on-therapy as appropriate. Your therapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your needs.

Assessment and treatment times vary slightly from our typical treatment times and prices. If you have any additional questions, please contact the clinic directly for more information on booking or to speak with our Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist.
